At some point prior to 1863, Emma's Mother met Declan Lion.[citation needed] She later married Declan, and gave birth to a daughter, Emma M. Lion, in January of 1863.[2] Once a year, typically in June, she would stay at Lapis Lazuli with Declan and Emma.[3]
Death
In the beginning of 1876, Emma's Mother died of consumption. Declan Lion had died shortly before, thus upon her mother's death, Emma was left an orphan.[4]
