Welcome to The Reed and Rite! The (somewhat) comprehensive guide to the works of Beth Brower. The Reed and Rite is a work in progress (aren’t we all?), thus many pages will reflect that.
Our Objective
The objective of The Reed and Rite is to be a resource for readers at any point in their journey through the writings of Beth Brower. This means that the last thing we want to do is unintentionally spoil any plot points! In support of that objective, we have created a Time Machine tool. This tool allows you to view a previous version of the wiki, meaning that one could browse the wiki without worrying about spoilers for a book they haven't read yet. (For example, if you haven't read Volume 8 of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion, you would be able to view the wiki as it was before it was "published". Meaning the wiki would only contain information through Volume 7. And so on for any book.)
This is where we meet our first problem: Despite the rabid demands of her fans for more, Brower has already published (at the time of writing) 13 books! Which means we have a lot of catching up to do! But in order to maintain our main objective, it must be done one step—or one book—at a time. (Think of yourself as Emma in Volume 1, staring at an empty bookshelf. Imperterritus!) While we can't build the wiki in conjunction with past publication order, we'll have to do it in practice. Thus, we will start at the beginning.
In order to accomplish this objective, it is necessary that—for now—the wiki only be filled out with information from the first book in a given series. Once that work is complete, we will move on to filling it out with information contained in the first two books of a series, and so on for each book until we catch up with the most recently published volume.
If you're visiting this wiki, we know you've probably already read most of Brower's work and are wanting something comprehensive for your referencing pleasure. But we ask for your patience and cooperation as we try to build it right for all readers! Which brings us to…
We Need Your Help!
This is a massive effort that won't be done overnight, but will be made easier the more people that can contribute. Whether you're simply editing for grammatical errors or fully creating new pages, every little bit helps!
The beauty of using MediaWiki is that it is a collaborative effort. If you're already familiar with editing wikis, excellent! Get working on those pages! If this is your first time, we've put together a Help Guide to teach you how.
Below you will see our current goals. This is where you can be the most helpful and we would appreciate you focusing your work in these areas.
Thank you for your effort in creating this tool!
Goals
Here you will find what goals are currently being worked on. Keep checking back here, as they will change periodically:
- As the Emma series is Brower's most popular work, this will be our main focus to begin. Again, Please, please, PLEASE only fill out these pages with information found in Volume 1. This is vital in order for the "Time Machine" function mentioned above to work. Once Volume 1 is done, we'll set a waypoint for the Time Machine, and move on to Volume 2, and so on for each volume.
You may also work on the following categories:
- The Queen's Gambit, and all its related pages.
- The Q, and all its related pages.
- The Beast of Ten, and all its related pages.
